Many of you know that I was fortunate to go on a mission trip to Uganda in January. My purpose in going on this trip was to serve orphans. James 1:27 commands us to look after widows and orphans in their distress. While in Uganda my team visited many different children’s homes. One little girl I met changed me forever. Her name is Favour. She came and sat on my bed one day and just melted my heart. We stayed at her orphanage for several days and she was in my arms or wrapped around my legs the entire time. I had never given much thought to adoption prior to this trip. Author David Platt puts it best...
"ORPHANS ARE EASIER TO IGNORE BEFORE YOU KNOW THEIR NAMES. THEY ARE EASIER TO IGNORE BEFORE YOU SEE THEIR FACES. IT IS EASIER TO PRETEND THEY ARE NOT REAL BEFORE YOU HOLD THEM IN YOUR ARMS. BUT ONCE YOU DO, EVERYTHING CHANGES." -DAVID PLATT
Everything changed for me. God do you really want me....a single mom to adopt a child in Africa? God has opened so many doors thus far…it has been simply amazing.
I have been working with a Ugandan attorney rather than using an adoption agency. I am asking you to join me in prayer and support to bring Favour home to a forever family. My goal is to raise $5,000 to help fund some of the adoption fees.
